January 12th
1528: Gustav I is crowned king of Sweden. To celebrate, he immediately starts working on making Gustav II.
1908: A long-distance radio message is sent from the Eiffel Tower for the first time. The message is: “these people smell!”
1967: Dr. James Bedford becomes the first person to be deliberately cryonically preserved with intent of future resuscitation. Of course, this happens by accident in Minneapolis every January.
