1787: New Jersey becomes the third state to ratify the U.S. Constitution. It would have been first, but it got stuck on the Turnpike.
1915: U.S. President Woodrow Wilson marries Edith Bolling Galt Wilson while president of the United States. Later that night, he slips her a little pocket veto.
