Webcation

One of my childrens' least favorite words is staycation - when you stay in town and have a vacation. They think it's not a real vacation, but I say it is. You're doing fun things that you wouldn't ordinarily do, just in your home town.

Today, I am going to propose we all take a little webcation - suggesting that we each take a few minutes to visit some blogs and websites that are new to us. The vacation part is that we are venturing out of the regular ones we read and visit(I know many of us read over 20 blogs a day). But maybe I will suggest some that you haven't visited before....

For a look at beautiful France go to Occitania Tours. Perhaps you can plan a vacation to France this summer?

Next let's visit my favorite food blog The Dogs Eat the Crumbs. The pictures are fabulous and and recipes amazing and tested.

Want to see some beautiful, reasonable jewelry? Go here SPJ. I have many pieces by this jeweler!

A friend told me about this website yesterday Alabama Chanin. It features hand stitched clothing and accessories that are works of art. Don't miss their blog Alabama Chanin blog tour. This jacket has incredible handwork! I used to sew a lot (made many of my childrens' smocked and embroidered clothes) - and this amount of handwork is remarkable!

Always wanted to create your own fabric - check this out Spoonflower. Have fun!

The best place to find amazing fabric remnants The Designers Attic.

And last, but certainly not least, my favorite Etsy stores:
Annechovie
High Street Market
Decorative Instincts

Isn't this pillow from Decorative Instincts awesome? It's so reasonable - go see for yourself.

Here are a few of my recent finds at the above four online stores. Next week I'll post what I'm doing with all of that stuff.

Enjoy your Webcation!!

House drawing follow up

After my house drawing post a couple of weeks ago, I felt compelled to order a black and white pen and ink drawing of my house. I chose Kelly Robson of High Street Market, because I admired a drawing that she had done (it's the President's House in her shop)and because her price is so reasonable.

It arrived yesterday and we are thrilled! The total time on the project was under 10 days. What a great wedding or house warming gift this would make.

Kelly is delightful to do business with, check out her ETSY shop for great vintage finds also.

Our architect was Bradley E. Heppner. He created a beautiful and "fabulous to live in" house for us! We are very grateful to him for his time and incredible talent. A photo Brad Heppner took of the house Christmas 2008:

I was checking back through my house building blog, REDO 2589 and I found this image that inspired us when we were building:

Pretty similar to what we built:

Drawings of my house are by Kelly Galvin Robson and may not be used without permission.
